  • Works begin on riverside elevation

In September, we embarked on the riverside elevation project and achieved the successful installation of zinc on the right-hand side of Goats Wharf.

This project's momentum will continue into October. Additionally, in line with our prior discussions, we've initiated the balcony tanking process on the west elevation to ensure proper water drainage.

Furthermore, we have completed the soffit installation on the ground floor, and our focus now shifts to continuing the installation process on higher levels.

Please also refer to the Image Library where we have displayed some photos showing our recent progress.

  • Residents receive free health & safety training

Last month local residents were given the opportunity to learn life saving skills thanks to free training from Equans.

On 29th September, Equans partnered with Notting Hill Genesis to deliver a number of free accredited health and safety training courses to local residents.

Equans' in-house Trainer, Stuart Woodland delivered three training sessions covering a range of health & safety topics including Level 1 H&S awareness, Emergency First Aid at Work, Asbestos, Safely Working at Height and Slips, Trips and Falls.

As well as being a great opportunity for residents to refresh their skills, the accredited training can also be referenced when applying for employment opportunities within the construction industry.

  • Phase 3 scaffold erection has begun

In July, we have started to put up the scaffold on phase 3, as well as erecting all the frameworks for the trapezoid to hang the zinc panels off.

We have also been busy putting up the zinc panels to the balcony areas on phase 1. During the last week of July, we will be erecting scaffold to the front corner of the building (main road end).

During next month, the works will be continuing on the first two phases with stripping out works taking place on phase 2 as well as continuing to install the new zinc panels on phase 1. We are expecting delivery of the new Rhino Decking panels within the next 2-3 weeks.

Last week, Equans hosted an employment webinar in partnership with Notting Hill Genesis to promote careers within the construction industry.

The webinar was held as part of Equans' pre-employment training programme with Notting Hill Genesis with the aim of advertising and promoting a career within construction to potential candidates.

Social Value Manager, Mark Bush was joined by Site Manager, Lisa Andrea Pecellin and Equans Talent & Development Officer, Helena Hamilton to discuss career paths available in construction, apprenticeship information and how to apply.

The webinar was well attended with over 20 residents attending throughout the day.

  • Site team achieve 'Excellent' score from Considerate Constructors Scheme

The site team at Goat Wharf received an impressive score of 41/45 for their first audit from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) after scoring high marks in each of the three categories.

On 18th July, a CCS monitor visited the scheme and carried out their audit of the site. They rated the scheme near top marks in each of the three available categories including respecting the community, caring for the environment and valuing their workforce. The auditor made several comments including: "Appropriate measures continue to reduce any inconvenience to residents to the minimum. Scheme requirements were well covered in the environmental and workforce sections."

The CCS is an independent organisation founded to raise standards in the construction industry to ensure all construction sites present an image of competent management, efficiency, awareness of environmental issues and above all neighbourliness. Monitors from the scheme regularly audit our sites to ensure we are adhering to the scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice which is designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirement.

Each audit is split into three categories; respect for the community, protecting the environment and valuing the workforce each with a potential top score of 15 with a total combined max score of 45 available. To score above 13 in any category warrants an excellent level of achievement for that category.

Congratulations to the site team, who work hard every day to maintain such high standards

  • Replacements follow removals

As we roll into June, we will now be starting to replace all that has been removed.

The CP board will begin to go back with the fire mastic and tape, along with all the EPDM around the doors and windows. After this we will be installing the Tyvek sheeting and then the rails and fire barrier.

The scaffold on phase 3 is now going up and this should take approximately five weeks to complete. Once complete we will start the strip out works on this phase.

If you have any queries or concerns about the works being undertaken by Equans, please direct them to your allocated Resident Liaison Officer, Paige Knowles by calling her on 07890 415 100.
