Work has also been progressing with the construction of the next phase of hand overs as we construct the timber frame for units that will be handed over later in 2021.

Donating Decorating Equipment to The New House Youth Centre
Local to the Cooks Lane project in Chalkwell Road Sittingbourne, is The New House Youth Centre. Working with the local council, this youth centre provides a range of fun activities for young people from arts and crafts, sporting activities and pool tables, as well as educational presentations to discuss road and cycle safety and gun and knife crime. This is a very popular youth centre providing a safe haven for young people between the ages of 6 – 18 who need somewhere to meet their friends away from the streets.
ENGIE has already carried out a range of different activities with the youth centre, and to help further, we offered to donate decorating equipment which will go towards modernising the activity room where the arts and craft activities take place, and the communal computers are located.
With help from our decorating subcontractor Twenty20 Décor Ltd, we have donated paint and decorating equipment such as brushes and rollers which can be used to redecorate the activity room.

Donating Tablets to Sanctuary Supported Living
Engie donated 4 tablets which can be used by each of the young person’s schemes in East Kent.
This now means that the young residents in Canterbury, Swale and Thanet will now have access to vital information to help them progress.
Many of the young people at Sanctuary Living Support are registered to bid on social housing with their local authorities, and so by having these tablets available to them allows them to search for properties on a daily basis so they no not miss out on an opportunity at finding a home.
The tablets have also enabled the young people to search for job opportunities and college courses and have also assisted the project workers in supporting residents in a socially distanced manner.
The tablets can be wiped clean easily and circulated to be used by a number of residents.

£100 Donation to One Big Family
One Big Family are a charity in Medway that help the homeless find permanent housing in order to get them off the streets and give them the chance at starting a new life.
By working with the local council, One Big Family house the homeless in temporary accommodation at Duke's House, here the homeless can stay as residents until One Big Family can allocate them into their own home with all the essentials needed to cook, clean and settle in.
Whilst staying at Duke's House during the festive period in December 2020, One Big Family provided the residents with a Christmas Lunch which ENGIE helped fund by donating them £100 to go towards giving the residents a festive meal.

Hedgehog House Give Away
Our Hedgehog House give away back in November 2020 was a great success. In total ENGIE gave away a total of 14 hedgehog houses to 8 primary schools, 5 charities and 1 home schooling group.
Sadly our countries hedgehogs are rapidly declining, so these hedgehog houses were used to educate young people about the importance of our wildlife and ecosystems and why they are vital to our environment.
We had a great response from many of the places that received our hedgehog houses and it sounds like the students had lots of fun learning about them.
Sunnybank Primary School - The Learning Mentor & Forest School Leader was very excited and keen to find a special place for the house within the school's outdoor area. It was used to educate children in the forest school session.
Creepy Claws Animal Sanctuary - Children within the After-School Club learnt about hedgehogs and turned the hedgehog house into a suitable habitat.
Brogdale Farm Faversham - The horticultural students put the home out at Brogdale Farm and they are pretty sure that there is already a hedgehog in the house after they made it into a suitable habitat.
