Equans provide support for local business

This June, Equans improved food options for the Glengall Road site team following a new partnership with local business, Rehoboth Grill House, whom provide restaurant quality Caribbean food.

Equans Site Manager, Josh Peach identified the need to provide additional food options for his site team and operatives as local sources are quite sparse meaning many staff members frequently visited the local supermarket. This was not only inconvenient in terms of distance but also meant putting money into a large corporation rather than supporting local residents and businesses.

After a discussion with the site Traffic Marshal, Winston, local resident, Karen, was introduced to Josh and they discussed how her local catering business could help resolve this problem.

"I feel very welcome on the project, the Site Manager, Josh has been brilliant with me. I look forward to continuing to work on the project and keep working with Equans. Thank you so much for the opportunity. Again, thank you to all the team for being so welcoming to me and my family." Karen Wallace, Owner of Rehoboth Grill House

With an initial trial passed with flying colours, the perfect solution was found with all parties benefitting - the site is now provided with delicious home-made Caribbean food whilst Equans can also help support someone from the local area make an additional income. It's also been decided that this new partnership with Karen will continue for the remainder of the scheme.

"It's fair to say the food has gone down extremely well with all members of the team. Karen will now be working within the canteen on site serving various different foods on different days of the week. This will continue throughout the project as we all love the food but equally want to support local people and their businesses." Equans Site Manager, Josh Peach
