Operatives receive crane rescue training
A number of operatives working at Glengall Road have received essential crane rescue training this month.
Equans' Project Manager, Jordan Rigby and Senior Site Manager, Alexandros Tzimoziogas, joined four of our subcontractors on a crane rescue safety training session last week to ensure the site team are prepared in the case of an emergency.
The subcontractors from GPS precast primarily help install the pre-cladded panels onto the building and work closely with the crane operators, therefore it was critical to ensure that they were trained in crane rescue techniques.
The training was delivered by Kevin Histon from Certs Assured Ltd who specialises in training for working at height and crane rescue. Kevin delivered a classroom style session followed by a short exam. Upon completion, the operatives were able to undertake the practical elements of the crane rescue training, which included learning how to safely bring a crane operator to ground level in an emergency situation such as an operator receiving a heart attack. The operatives were also shown how to safely use a harness and winch system known as a crane rescue kit.
