Equans is undertaking fire safety and fire prevention works at Griffin House on behalf of Southern Housing. The works being undertaken include removal and renewal of external wall insulation and rainscreen cladding, minor external fabric repairs and decorations, fire remedial works and the removal and renewal of timber balcony decking.

Griffin House comprises of 53 2-bedrooms flats in total. The property is divided into two parts: 1- 38 Griffin House which has 5 storeys and 39-53 Griffin House which has 4 storeys.

However, you’ll need to contact your landlord, Southern Housing,
if you’ve questions which are not related to the works being
carried out.

  • First resident meeting - 16th November

    We're pleased to confirm that our first resident's meeting will be taking place on Thursday 16th November.

    We would like to urge all residents to attend where possible so that we can provide an update on our progress, answer questions and find solutions to any issues that have arisen.

    The resident meeting will be held on the third Thursday of every month starting from this month

    This is also a great opportunity for you to meet members of your Equans site team face to face.

  • Resident Update - October 2023

    Welcome to our site works update for October

    If you have any queries about the works being carried out please speak to your allocated Resident Liaison Officer, Trevon on 07811 704 593.


    Our progress so far: On the third level at the rear of the building, and above, we have stripped off all timber cladding. We are also securing the scaffold to the building so block work removal can commence.

    Our next steps: Block work removal is planned to commence as soon as we are done securing the scaffold.

    The first resident meeting will be held on 16th November, we urge all residents to attend so we can update residents on the works, answer any questions and offer solutions to any issues that have arisen.

    Gas certificates - we need all leaseholders to send their annual gas safety certificate to RLO, Trevon please to prevent any delays with the works.

    We would like to inform all residents that our first coffee morning will be held on 30th November, further details will be provided.

    Important reminders: We would like to let all residents know that you are not allowed to fix or install anything on the building or roof, for example, satellite dishes. You are also not allowed to drill through the walls or fit cat flaps in the facade.

    Storing of fake grass, wood decor etc. is not allowed on balconies as they are flammable which will affect the safety of the building.

  • Resident Update - September 2023

    Welcome to our site works update for September

    If you have any queries about the works being carried out please speak to your allocated Resident Liaison Officer (RLO), Trevon on 07811 704 593.


    Our progress so far: We are organising a MacMillan Coffee Morning at our Whytecliffe Road South scheme to support the charity in the fight against cancer - further details to be provided.

    On the third level at the rear of the building, and above, we have stripped off all timber cladding.

    We are carrying out a block work investigation on the building.

    Our next steps: Balcony stripping of timber cladding, combustible materials and isolating external balcony lights is planned to commence from 29th September.

    You have a new RLO, Trevon Mengot, replacing Sanusi - please forward any enquiries to Trevon on 07811 704 593.

    Another coffee morning and discussions about the works will be organised for residents within the respite room.

    Gas certificates - we need all residents to please send their annual gas boiler certificates to RLO, Trevon to prevent any delays with the works.

    Welcome to our site works update for August

    Our progress so far:

    • Scaffolding and netting has been completed around the building
    • Car park issues have now been resolved
    • Respite room is now fully functioning
    • Gas pre-works survey is ongoing with 90% completed
    • Resident profile and pre-con surveys completed
    • Security alarm system has been installed on the hoist and scaffolding

    Our next steps:

    • Removal/stripping of timber decking, combustible materials and timber cladding to commence from 28th August
    • Skip to be delivered on 30th August
    • Gantry to be erected on the roof of the car park store - this is to be used as a storage for building materials
    • Winner of the Health and Safety Art Competition to be announced later
    • Organise coffee mornings for residents within the respite room
    • Residents to clear their balconies of items by Friday 1st September

  • Resident respite facilities now available!

    New respite facilities are now available for all residents of Griffin House.

    Every resident deserves a break and a place to sit comfortably, meet with staff and have a one-to-one chat on the ongoing works.

    At Equans, we pride ourselves in giving the best service to our clients and putting them at the centre of our business. We are a customers-centred company focusing on those things that improve the environment, living conditions and health and wellbeing of our customers and staff to live in a safe and welcoming environment.

    Our respite room is a place to:

    • Sit and have a cup of coffee, tea and biscuits while watching television
    • Discuss issues relating to the ongoing works
    • Get information about the day-to-day work activities on site via our Bulletin Boards
    • Register your comments, suggestions, complaints and compliments via our Suggestion Box


    If you are unsure of or want to find out about our work at Griffin House, a cursory glace at the Bulletin Boards within the respite room will give you an idea of what is happening.

  • Resident update - 14th August 2023

    Welcome to our site works update for August

    Equans has been appointed by Southern Housing to undertake cladding and fire remediation works at Griffin House.

    These resident updates are a good way for us to keep you up to date with all the work that has been going on so far and what we expect to achieve going forward.

    Our progress so far:

    • Scaffolding has been completed on the back of the building
    • Hoist and stairway installed for access to the scaffolding
    • Scaffolding and netting has commenced on the front of the building
    • Respite room available with internet facilities for residents, also good for a break with tea, coffee and biscuits
    • 10' welfare container has been removed to create space for a skip
    • CRAFT completed cutting holes on the wall to secure the building

    Important reminders:

    • The closing date for the poster competition is 20th August
    • Residents with gas meters within the perimeter of the hoist to contact staff for assistance with access
    • Residents are encouraged to use the new respite room
    • We urge residents to complete the resident profile, pre-condition survey and pre-works gas survey
