Resident newsletter - July 2024
Welcome to your first works update - this is where we will regularly update you on our progress with the works being undertaken at Mackintosh Lane.
These updates are provided by members of the site team and are always as up to date as possible, however If you have any queries, questions or concerns about the works please contact your appointed Resident Liaison Officer (RLO).
Welcome to your July newsletter - it is our intention to provide a regular update to the residents at 5-7 Mackintosh Lane as to what works have taken place and what works are upcoming. In between these updates the site team will be contacting you to make appointments for any surveys or works that need to be done to the outside or near your flat.
Meet your site team

Our progress to date:
- We have set up our site office at 5 Mackintosh Lane, Hackney, E9 6AB
- We have provided a respite room within our office area for residents to chill out and take a break from the works in their home. Refreshments are available and they can use this area to discuss the ongoing works with members of the site team
- 80% of the scaffold has now been erected to block 5 and 30% has been completed to block 7. Please note alarms have been fitted on the scaffolds to prevent intruders from gaining access to balconies and the roof
- 98% of resident profiles and pre-condition surveys have been completed at block 5
- 25% of resident profiles and pre-condition surveys have been completed at block 7
- We have distributed our Resident Information Pack (click here to view) and 'Meet the Team' poster to all residents via email
- Installed brick walls on your balconies to enhance security and to prevent unauthorised access
Important information:
- Windows: We would like to remind everyone to keep their windows closed (due to potential but not anticipated noise/debris/dust etc) as well as the privacy element. The make of the insulation to the rear is EPS which is very light and can be easily blown back into your home
- Scaffold health and safety risk: We would like to remind residents not to smoke on their balconies or throw cigarette butts on the scaffold along with other items such as rubbish, toys etc. Unfortunately, cigarettes/butts can be easily blown back into the building and/or onto the scaffold or existing cladding and potentially cause a fire. We also advise you to contact your home insurance provider regarding the scaffold erection around the building
- Unauthorised access: Please note that only Equans employees and their representatives are permitted access to scaffolding. For their own safety, no other persons are allowed to climb onto the scaffold under any circumstances - this applies particularly to children. Any unauthorised persons accessing the scaffolding outside of our normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm) should immediately be reported to the police. Please also be aware of any bogus callers, all Equans staff will have ID - check before they enter your home
Monthly resident's meeting:
Equans and Southern Housing will shortly be setting up resident meetings. These meetings will occur on a monthly basis and all residents will be welcome to attend. To maximise attendance these meetings will take place over Microsoft Teams. Representatives from both Equans and Southern Housing will be attendance at each meeting and this is an opportunity for you to raise any concerns you may have about the works.
Reminder: If you wish to arrange an appointment with regards to completing a Resident Profile and Pre-Condition Survey, please contact your Resident Liaison Officer (RLO), Sanusi to arrange a convenient date and time for this appointment to take place.
