Equans is the world leader in multi-technical services with 74,000 employees, in 17 country hubs and with the knowledge to deliver high-quality projects.
We empower businesses and communities to fully embrace the energy transition, and also the digital & industrial transitions that are redesigning the way we move, work and live.
Equans is leading the energy transition in Newcastle and across the UK. In 2022 we completed carbon reduction and environmental improvement works across 12 key buildings across Newcastle in partnership with Newcastle City Council, with a total project value of 12.7m.
It is expected that these works will be completed over a 2-year period, during which we will endeavour to minimise disruption to public access and quality of life.
We will also do our best to minimise noise, traffic disruption in the wider area and other disruption the project will bring. This link will be updated to include information on expected events coming up as part of the project which could bring disruption.
As part of the project, external surveys will be getting carried out with elements including thermal imaging (no images will be recorded, just data on heat loss), and drone videography with a licenced drone pilot.

Scaffolding works getting underway
Equans will begin scaffolding on Lort House during week commencing 22nd April 2024 in preparation for the works. The scaffolding will take several weeks to erect and will remain in place for the full duration of works which is likely to be completed towards the end of the year.
Whilst work is being carried out to your property, scaffolding will need to be erected. This will be carried out in a safe and conscientious manner. However, for your own safety and security please follow the relevant information:
- Once scaffolding has been erected, for your own security and to avoid unnecessary dust in your home please ensure that your windows and doors are kept closed
- Please check your home insurance policy regarding scaffold being put outside your property, if you are unsure of this please contact your insurer direct
- Your scaffolding will be protected by lagging (a foam-based protector) at door entrances and end caps for your safety. Please take extra care when leaving your property and around the scaffolding area.
- Un-authorised access to the scaffolding could result in prosecution.
Please note that scaffolding can be very dangerous, we would therefore appreciate it if you could inform us of any concerns, you may have or if you see any unauthorised people, including other residents or their visitors on the scaffold.
Scaffold access is strictly limited to site operatives carrying out works on behalf of Your Homes Newcastle. Your Homes Newcastle cannot be held responsible if residents fail to comply with this request.
