Works update - December 2023
Welcome to your resident's update from Equans. This is a great way for us to keep you up to date with all the work that has been going on so far and what we expect to achieve going forward.
If you have any queries about the works being undertaken by Equans, please direct your query to your appointed Resident Liaison Officer, Sanusi Conteh by calling 07855 967 608.
As you will be aware, Equans has been appointed by Southern Housing to replace cladding and associated fire remediation works at Whytecliffe Road.
Our progress so far:
We have now completed all the removal of all existing cladding and other combustible materials, and have now completed the replacement of all the old OSB boards, with the new 12mm "Y Board" and rockwool insulation in all areas and elevations. This includes the application and installation of all the waterproof EPDM membrane and fire mastic works, as well as all the boiler and flue isolations that we had to carry out, whilst carrying out all these fire remediation works.
The only areas we haven't been able to complete to date is the void areas and redundant empty plots, as well as all the aborted appointments by the residents themselves, that Southern Housing have now been handed over to and are now dealing with all these ongoing issues themselves.
Santa's Grotto: Our festive Santa's Grotto was a major success on the 22nd December, on our last day on site before the Christmas shutdown, with great attendance and turn out of over 30 children and parents from both the Whytecliffe Road and Cygnus Court schemes coming to visit Father Christmas (Site Manager, John Loftus) for their Christmas presents.

Children receive special gifts from Santa at his grotto
To help spread some festive cheer this Christmas, the Equans site team including Resident Liaison Officer, Sanusi Conteh organised a Santa's grotto for local children.
On 22nd December, children from across Whytecliffe Road South attended the grotto where Santa was waiting to hand out free gifts including chocolate selection boxes and other wonderful presents.
This goodwill gesture was part of a larger initiative carried out across our various Southern Housing schemes, organised by Equans' in-house Social Value team.

Equans contributes to £15 million raised for Macmillan Cancer Support!
Thanks to efforts from Equans and thousands of other companies across the UK - Macmillan Coffee Mornings like the one held at our Whytecliffe Road site office in September have raised over £15 million for Macmillan Cancer Support. That's enough money to fund 241 Macmillan nurses for a year!
After contributing £150 towards this great cause Equans received a special note from Macmillan Cancer Support thanking them for their contribution towards such a life-changing amount of money.
If you were unable to attend our coffee morning back in September but would like to get involved next year please mention this to your RLO. Further communications will be issued nearer the time when we plan to support Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning in 2024.
Every penny raised really does make a difference to people living with cancer. Macmillan's coffee morning is in its 33rd year and in that time has helped millions of people when they've needed help the most. Macmillan is already thinking about next year and would love for companies like Equans to join them again for 2024's coffee morning so please join us if you can.

Works update - September 2023
Welcome to your resident's update from Equans. This is a great way for us to keep you up to date with all the work that has been going on so far and what we expect to achieve going forward.
If you have any queries about the works being undertaken by Equans, please direct your query to your appointed Resident Liaison Officer, Sanusi Conteh by calling 07855 967 608.
As you will be aware, Equans has been appointed by Southern Housing to replace cladding and associated fire remediation works at Whytecliffe Road.
Our progress so far:
Monoflex: The low-graded monoflex is currently being replaced with a fire-rated quality monoflex on all levels of the building.
Debris netting: The old debris netting has been replaced with the new TS62 certified (three red strips) fire retardant debris netting on all levels.
Weekly update: We have commenced issuing out a weekly update to every resident to keep you abreast with the ongoing works and for you to be able to send in your comments, concerns and feedback to enable us to take prompt actions to improve our work.
Balcony works: This is currently on hold to avoid damage to the decking as we need to carry out brickwork investigations.
Fire-stopping: This will soon commence in all internal common areas on every floor.
Colour schemes: We are looking forward to achieving this project through the choices you make of your preferred colour.
Monthly residents meeting: We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to you for your continued participation in the monthly residents' meetings which is a way to channel your views and concerns on the ongoing works, as well as a forum for you to establish good interpersonal relationships with staff and your neighbours to promote community solidarity and cohesion.
Our next residents' meeting will take place on Thursday 5th October 2023 on Microsoft Teams from 6pm - a link to this meeting will be sent to your email.
During the meeting there will be an opportunity to provide your views, concerns and ask questions. Representatives from both Equans and Southern Housing will be present.
Macmillan Cancer Support: We would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who attended and graciously donated to this wonderful cause. The coffee morning was not just about meeting together to drink coffee, but to hold a cup of coffee and reflect on the effects of cancer on a loved-one, be it a father, mother, son, daughter, sibling, family friend or someone you have seen battling with the disease. The effect is excruciatingly mind boggling and heart wrenching. We are all humans with a sense of feeling and empathy for one another!
