  • Children receive special gifts from Santa at his grotto

To help spread some festive cheer this Christmas, the Equans site team including Resident Liaison Officer, Sanusi Conteh organised a Santa's grotto for local children.

On 22nd December, children from across Cygnus Court attended the grotto where Santa was waiting to hand out free gifts including chocolate selection boxes and other wonderful presents.

This goodwill gesture was part of a larger initiative carried out across our various Southern Housing schemes, organised by Equans' in-house Social Value team.

  • Mould and damp

We are aware that some residents are experiencing issues with leaks through their windows as well as damp and mould.

Unfortunately, these issues may occur until the insulation to your home is fully re-instated, however we have provided some advice below to help minimise the risk of damp and mould.

The key to mould prevention is keeping air moisture to a minimum. Dry any condensation that may be gathering on your walls, ceiling to windowsills. Dehumidifiers can also help to remove moisture from the air. Try to keep your bathroom and kitchen door shut tightly and ensure your windows are open whilst cooking or your extractor fan is on.

If you are experiencing any leaks in/around your windows please contact your RLO, Sanusi on 07855 967 608 to report it.

  • Equans contributes to £15 million raised for Macmillan Cancer Support!

Thanks to efforts from Equans and thousands of other companies across the UK - Macmillan Coffee Mornings like the one held at our Whytecliffe Road site office in September have raised over £15 million for Macmillan Cancer Support. That's enough money to fund 241 Macmillan nurses for a year!

After contributing £150 towards this great cause Equans received a special note from Macmillan Cancer Support thanking them for their contribution towards such a life-changing amount of money.

If you were unable to attend our coffee morning back in September but would like to get involved next year please mention this to your RLO. Further communications will be issued nearer the time when we plan to support Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning in 2024.

Every penny raised really does make a difference to people living with cancer. Macmillan's coffee morning is in its 33rd year and in that time has helped millions of people when they've needed help the most. Macmillan is already thinking about next year and would love for companies like Equans to join them again for 2024's coffee morning so please join us if you can.

    International Safety Week 2023

At Equans, our unwavering commitment to safety is in our Fundamentals; it's one of our must haves. 16-22 October was International Safety Week and was our moment to shine a spotlight on health and safety. This year, we focused on Fall Hazards, an area that resonates with every one of us, aligning with rule number four of Equans' 12 Golden Rules - We Work Safely - Prevent falls from height.

Workplace safety is at the heart of Equans' mission, and International Safety Week served as an annual reminder of this commitment. It's a week where every employee, regardless of their role, comes together to reaffirm their dedication to safety. It's not just about making safety a priority; it's about embracing safety as an integral part of our identity.

This year, we kicked off the week with webinars, and division-specific emails that followed throughout the week. This ensured that our teams were armed with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent accidents related to working at heights and falling objects.

    Wednesday Walks

Our staff at Whytecliffe Road South and Cygnus Court incorporated the International Safety Week with 30 minutes walks on Wednesdays in the park to improve their health and wellbeing.
