  • Modular factory visit provides insight into manufacturing process

Equans and Haringey visit factory for insight into manufacturing process for modular pods used on Noel Park scheme.

In May, Equans and the Haringey project team visited the ModularWise factory in Herefordshire for an opportunity to observe the manufacturing process of the double storey modular extensions which are soon to be installed to the rear of the properties at Gladstone Avenue.

During the visit they were shown around the factory, which provided more of an insight into each manufacturing stage. It was great to see how each process was completed, which enabled those present to have a good understanding into the amount of work required to produce each modular extension. It was evident that a lot of care and attention is given into manufacturing these extensions and the finished product reflects this.

Overall, the feedback from the visit was very positive, and we are looking forward to having these installed into residents' homes within the next month.

  • Team retains 'Excellent' rating from Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Noel Park site team received an impressive score of 41/45 for their latest audit visit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) after scoring high marks in each of the three categories.

On 14th March, a CCS monitor re-visited Noel Park and carried out his second audit of the site, commenting things like "The site was noted to be well organised, clean and tidy. Robust safety and emergency arrangements remain evident. Resident support activities and local charities are being supported."

The CCS is an independent organisation founded to raise standards in the construction industry to ensure all construction sites present an image of competent management, efficiency, awareness of environmental issues and above all neighbourliness. Monitors from the scheme regularly audit our sites to ensure we are adhering to the scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice which is designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirement.

Each audit is split into three categories; respect for the community, protecting the environment and valuing the workforce each with a potential score out of 15 with a total combined max score of 45 available. To score above 13 in any category warrants an excellent level of achievement for that category.

Congratulations to Jim, Sonja, Lyn, Kelly, Barry and the rest of the site team, who work so hard every day to maintain such high standards

  • An update on our works...

We're pleased to provide you with an update on the works being carried out at Noel Park, if you have any queries or concerns please contact your appointed Resident Liaison Officers, Lyn and Sonja.

During December 2022 we were focusing on upgrading the voids that we had been given for decant purposes. Five were fully completed and furnished and we completed the remaining four voids in January from the original nine we had been given.

We have now been handed three more void properties and we are currently surveying these to determine what works will need to be carried out - these works will be completed in early February 2023.

Currently six residents have been decanted into these void properties, and works are taking place within the residents' homes at a good rate.

The 26th of January saw us craning in the first pod of the year, the lift was successful and we are looking to complete the remaining works by 3rd February, with the resident moving back into their property by 6th February. The next lift is scheduled for 27th January.

The freezing temperatures caused a delay on the scheduled asbestos strip at 97 and 99 Moselle Avenue. The reason for this was because the decontamination unit used by the asbestos removal team had frozen. Due to this, the programme had to be revised and re-issued.

Works aimed at installing the extensions are now underway to more homes on Morley Avenue, Farrant Avenue and Moselle Avenue, with all properties expected to be completed in the first half of 2023.

Properties on Gladstone Avenue are in the final stages of receiving planning permission from Haringey Council's Planning department. We would like to thank all residents for their patience during this important programme and will be in touch prior to any work taking place.

If you have any questions or would like to view the modular extension show pod, please contact Equans Resident Liaison Officers, Lyn Rutherford on 07767 648 159 or Sonja Eldred on 07748 822 768. Alternatively you can also email noelpark@haringey.gov.uk.

    First resident decanted!

Mrs Ward has lived in Noel Park for over 40 years and has recently moved into a decanted property while the installation of her modular extension installation takes place.

Mrs Ward said: "I was excited and could not believe it was happening. It was difficult to accept the move as I have not lived anywhere else, but Haringey Council helped me through all stages. From explaining why I had to move to what I needed to take with me to my temporary accommodation. I also viewed my temporary accommodation, which was nice, and I received boxes to pack. I literally just had to unpack once I handed over my keys. The team were so helpful, and kind and I cannot thank them enough. I am happy as I know when I move back to my permanent home, I will have my new walk-in shower and kitchen."

    Haringey Works

Tairone tells us about his experience on the Haringey Works programme - a service dedicated to helping Haringey residents find jobs. As an apprentice, Tairone has gained work experience on site for the Noel Park major works programme.

Tairone said: "As part of the Equans community pledge and with the help of Noel Park's Big Local, I was employed as an Apprentice Site Assistant for six months. I've been based on site with the team three days a week. My duties involve helping Resident Liaison Officers and distributing letters and newsletters to residents for pending works. I have also been supporting the Site Managers with daily labour counts, material deliveries and distribution.

"Other duties have included straightforward health and safety checks and ensuring site housekeeping is in check in the site office and working properly. During my short time, I have found this experience useful and will use some of the skills I have learnt in the future again."

Last week, Equans' Social Value Manager, Julian Sanz, joined Resident Liaison Officers, Hayley and Lyn to surprise local resident Yvonne Denny from the Edgcot Grove Estate with a fantastic toy donation to her local good cause.

Each year Yvonne does a toy drive to be able to provide toys for underprivileged and homeless families in Haringey.

Back in December the Equans site office was given a festive look to help celebrate Christmas.

Social Value Manager, Julian Sanz, visited the site team at Noel Park and as part of our local community engagement work with Noel Park Big Local, helped the site team decorate their site office for the Christmas period.

As well as members of the site team helping out, local residents and Noel Park Big Local members, Laurie and Euclides also gave Julian a hand getting some of the decorations ready.

In addition to decorating the office, Equans will also be raffling off three Christmas hampers across all our Haringey contracts as well as donating toys to local children's charities. This is all part of Equans' social value activities on behalf of Haringey Council.
