Equans has been selected, following a competitive tender process, to deliver a 20 year planned investment partnership with Clarion Housing Group, that will see Clarion residents benefit from kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, external decorations, boiler replacements and heating system upgrades, electrical testing and re-wiring, roof renewals, lifts, windows and doors. The areas covered under this partnership include, East Anglia, North West, Yorkshire, Midlands and the South West.

Clarion is the landlord to over 125,000 homes, and the long-term maintenance of those homes on behalf of its residents is a major priority for the group. Clarion's planned investment programme is a significant part of the long-term maintenance plan; and our partnership model enables us to deliver at scale, add value and maintains resilience through challenging market conditions.

Our long-term partnership arrangements enables us to be agile in our approach and delivery to programmed works. We work collaboratively across the partnership as a whole and have an embedded learning culture. This can be seen in our tailoring of engagement with residents across differing projects and work streams; how we deliver large volumes of work across all of our regions; and our use of innovation and lessons learnt to continually improve our partnership.

  • Works update - South East & East Team - September 2024

    We're pleased to provide an overview and update for the works currently being delivered by our South East & East team.

    Works update for SHDF 2.1 works in Wisbech/March:

    In summary, we completed the following throughout September:

    • We are currently working on properties programmed for 2024/25 (80 properties identified for Sustainable Homes works)
    • 8 properties completed (15 total)
    • 1 property opened (51 total)
    • Scaffolding erected at 9 properties
    • Roof works completed at 2 properties on Colvile Road
    • Roof replacement ongoing at 4 properties on Colvile Road
    • External wall insulation completed to 4 properties in Wisbech St Mary
    • 1 property in March had passageway ceiling insulated with EWI
    • Cavity wall insulation completed to 7 properties (39 total)
    • Loft insulation completed to 9 properties (15 total)
    • Soffit fills completed to 1 property (15 total)
    • Window and door installations completed to 2 properties (19 total)
    • Ventilation completed to 14 properties (46 total)
    • 2 CCU installed due to being on external wall
    • ASHP installations to 2 properties completed at the end of August (17 total)

    On the component works being carried out in Wisbech and Kings Lyn:

    • Scaffolding has commenced at Onyx Court, Wisbech to allow for licenced asbestos removal
    • Asbestos removal has commenced to the soffits at Onyx Court, fascia and soffit team will then commence

    For works being carried out in Peterborough:

    • We are currently working on properties programmed for 2024/25 - 50 properties identified for component works being carried out in Peterborough
    • 39 properties completed and signed off by Clarion
    • Open properties - 11 total
    • Scaffolding erected at 5 properties
    • Bay window installations completed to 8 properties

    In summary, we completed the following throughout August:

    • We are currently working on properties programmed for 2024/25 (80 properties identified for Sustainable Homes works)
    • 4 properties completed (5 total)
    • 1 property opened (38 total)
    • 1 property has had ventilation works completed within their kitchen and bathroom (29 total)
    • Fascia, soffit and gutter replacements at 1 property (15 total)
    • 3 Air Source Heat Pump installations completed (15 total)
    • 4 loft insulations completed
    • Roof works commenced at Colvile Road and ongoing
    • Windows and doors installed at 8 properties (17 total)
    • 14 soffit insulations completed
    • External wall insulation commenced at 4 properties in Wisbech, St Mary
    • Pre-ATT & modelling of properties ongoing

    On the component works being carried out in Wisbech and Kings Lyn:

    • Scaffolding has commenced at Onyx Court, Wisbech to allow for licenced asbestos removal and the replacement of fascia, soffits and guttering
    • Scaffolding has been completed at Southgate Street, Kings Lyn so external decorations can begin
    • Scaffolding has been put up at 8 properties in Kings Lyn in August for fascia, soffit & guttering replacement (Evelyn Way, Segrave Road)
    • 7 properties have had window and door replacements in August
    • 3 new doors were installed at a residential scheme in Kings Lyn
    • Internal and external decorations have commenced for a residential scheme
    • New communal entrance and rear exit doors were installed at two blocks of flats in Cottier Drive, Littleport
    • New communal entrance doors were installed at 2 blocks of flats in Gilpin Place, Cambridge

    For works being carried out in Peterborough:

    • We are currently working on properties programmed for 2024/25 - 50 properties identified for component works being carried out in Peterborough
    • We have completed and handed over 8 properties at Orchard Mews, Woodston including external decorations as well as 2 properties at Farriers Court including roofline works
    • Scaffolding has been completed at Farriers Court, so external roofline works can be completed (10 properties)
    • Scaffolding has been erected at 8 properties in August for bay windows and cladding replacement (Fen View)
    • For August we have completed and handed over 10 properties to Nicholas Beadle from Clarion

    • 1 property completed in July 2024
    • 3 properties opened in July 2024 (37 total)
    • 3 properties had cavity wall insulation completed in July 2024 (33 total)
    • 1 property has had ventilation works completed within their kitchen and bathroom in June 2024 (28 total)
    • Fascia, soffit and gutter replacements at 2 properties (14 total)
    • 8 air source heat pump installations completed in July 2024 (12 total)
    • Scaffolding erected at 1 property in Truman Avenue for asbestos soffit removal and fascia, soffit and guttering
    • Scaffolding erected at 2 properties in Colvile Road for roof replacement works
    • Roof works commenced at Colvile Road and ongoing - this involved removal of concrete gutters
    • Windows and doors installed at 8 properties in July 2024 (9 total)
    • Asbestos removal to 7 properties in July 2024 (13 total)
    • 8 properties had door undercuts completed in July 2024 (18 total)
    • Moving of gullies completed at Cannons Close & Colvile Road ready for external wall insulation
    • Pre-ATT & modelling of properties ongoing

  • Works update - West Midlands Team - July 2024

    We're pleased to provide an overview and update for the works currently being delivered by our West Midlands team.

    Project progress: We are currently carrying out regeneration works including windows, doors, internal/external decorations, communal flooring and door entry works to properties in and around Nuneaton, Bedworth, Walsall and Birmingham.

    These works commenced are anticipated to complete by the end of August 2024.

    • Jobs information session in August 2024 with candidates that have previously completed CSCS training

    Completed social value initiatives:

    • 17th May: Building the Futures Careers Fair and Construction Summit - South and City College, Birmingham
    • 23rd May: St Basils pop up shop volunteering - Birmingham City Centre x 4 volunteers
    • 4th June: The Ladder Foundation Birmingham - Apprenticeship Awareness session hosted by Equans to students from secondary schools across east Birmingham
    • 7th June: Volunteering Ways for Wellbeing CIC x 6 Equans staff volunteers
  • Equans volunteers sort and send more than 600 toy boxes for children's charity

    A group of volunteers from Equans recently supported a children's charity by sorting and sending out more than 600 toy boxes.

    On 10th July, several staff members from Equans generously donated their time to volunteer with charity KidsOut to help provides toys to children across the country who have been victims of domestic violence.


    Throughout their time with the charity, the volunteers sorted and organised assorted toys and games into cardboard boxes and helped prepare each box for distribution.

  • Equans supports Chelmsford recycling initiative

    Equans recently provided support for a recycling initiative run in partnership between Clarion Housing Group and Chelmsford City Council.

    In early July, Equans had the pleasure of supporting Clarion's joint project with Chelmsford City Council which planned to educate residents regarding recycling and household waste disposal by providing two large skips for the residents to use.

    The skips were provided by members of our specialist supply chain, KM-ECO Ltd who were more than happy to provide support for this worthy cause.

    Works update for SHDF 2.1 works in Wisbech/March:

    In summary, we completed the following throughout June:

    • 46 properties completed in year 23/24 for Sustainable Homes works
    • 4 properties completed on Garden Lane, Wisbech St Mary following removal of mains electric cables by UK Power Networks - measures for these properties were Cavity Wal Insulation, Loft Insulation, Air Source Heat Pump, Switchee thermostat control, Window & Door Replacement and External Wall Insulation
    • We are currently working on properties programmed for FY 24/25 - 80 properties identified for Sustainable Homes works - measures include Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation, Kitchen and Bathroom Ventilation, Window & Door Replacement, Air Source Heat Pump installation (where required) and External Wall Insulation (where required)
      • 35 properties commenced (up to the end of June 2024)
      • 29 properties so far have had Cavity Wall Insulation installed
      • 26 properties have had Kitchen and Bathroom Ventilation
      • 12 properties have had replacement facia, soffit and guttering
      • 4 Air Source Heating installations completed
    • As part of the Reactive Major Works Program, a roof replacement has been completed at a block of flats in Lilac Close, Wisbech
    • Additional ground floor communal lighting was installed at 4 blocks of flats in Hatchant Court, Wisbech
    • The site team are also carrying out component work program in Kings Lynn, Wisbech & Peterborough. The component works include:
      • Internal decorations for Clarion supported housing schemes
      • External decorations for properties including painting of timber fascia & soffits, windows
      • Replacement fascia, soffits, guttering (where required)
      • Replacement of windows and doors
    • Lift replacements will be surveyed and installed in the coming months at Onyx Court and Boyden Court (Wisbech), Salem Court (Chatteris) and John Gale Court (Norwich)
    • Lift replacements are ongoing at St Marys House, Whittlesey
    • Scaffolding will be erected at Onyx Court in the coming weeks for the replacement of fascia, soffits & guttering
